get up and make it known, never take a chance alone

omfg.

that was possibly one of the best nights of my life.

I'm freaking exhausted and on the verge of getting a cold/being sick, so I will probably have no voice tomorrow.

but it is sooooooooooooooooo worth it.

set lists from both concerts will be posted within a couple days. maybe some pictures from the nokia theater event. I didn't take my camera into the chance again, even though they didn't make a big deal about it this time. but it was a good move on my part, because I got to enjoy the concert more and really take it all in. and I got to sing and dance with liz.

and on monday I sang and danced with kelly and amanda.

I love hanson concerts.

I love hanson.

If we were a movie...

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

pressure's gonna drop on you

The Presidential Election.

Oye.

You know, this will be the second presidential election I will be voting in, and I still have no clue which way I'm going to go.

McCain?

Obama?

Biden?

Palin?

One of my favorite old videos to watch from Brotherhood 2.0 (youtube.com/vlogbrothers) is Hank's anagramming guide to the Presidential Elections of 2008, which you can find right here:

There is no anagram for Sarah Palin, because this video was made way before she existed in the Presidential 2008 world. And for some reason, there is no anagram for John McCain.

Sarah Palin = Las Piranha
John Sidney McCain = Nice Dynamics, John

Oye.

I need to read up on the issues. Luckily, my best friend Kelly, who just recently started blogging on blogger has provided two websites to check out:

fact check
vote gopher

I'm looking forward to reading about the issues and trying to figure out who to vote for.

But for now? I knit!

who is that girl I see?

BEFORE...

AFTER!

I'm gonna send thee twelve by twelve

Sunday night my acapella group finally did our recording of our Christmas CD.

I want to say that I'm really satisfied with our work, but I can't, because then I would be lying.

I was so proud of the music we had learned and how well we were progressing. And then little things started to happen. A member would suddenly join here, another would never show up there, and soon our awesome balance was not so made of awesome anymore. This is because of a couple things:

- we're an acapella group that rehearses for 1 hour a week, in the evening, when people are tired from the long day they had before.
- not everyone is committed. I mean...I definitely try to show up every week both physically and vocally. I admit, I'm not the best singer, but I bring my head to practice and I absorb music like the snap of two fingers. I review my music during the week so I know where I'm at. I actually put my heart into learning the pieces because I am so damn privileged to be part of this group. There are members who show up every week physically, but not vocally, and the group suffers because of it. There are others who show up occasionally physically, but are so there vocally. But it still hurts the group because they're not there all the time. And then there are just some who don't give a rat's ass and don't care about the music, don't care to learn notes, don't care to learn proper pronounciations (I don't care if it's a pop tune, you still pronounce words correctly. every recording I found on iTunes says it correctly.)

Now, I guess I shouldn't judge, because I missed the first two weeks of rehearsals because of practice for another gig and because I was sick the next week, and I was "baptized by fire" as caitlin puts it when I learned a piece thursday night that was potentially going on the recording sunday evening. and I also don't want to brag, but damn, once I sang through that piece (with the immense help of cait singing into my ear) I got that piece. there was one spot I couldn't get, but I got it when I went through my music at home. and I was proud of myself that I was able to learn on the spot. And let me tell you, I think it was probably one of the best recordings that will be going on the CD.

That's another thing. Songs that we've NAILED in the past went to crap Sunday night. Granted, we were all tired by the end of the night. 4 hours of singing is not a pretty thing when you have to then sing the song to be recorded. And I'm a little miffed about that because Lo, How A Rose is one of my favorite pieces, and it took so many tries and a freaking half step down key change to finally fix it, but it still probably wasn't as good as it could've been or has been. I'm also pissed about another piece because I absolutely love it, and there were certain little elements that basically fucked it up. If it does make it onto the CD, I probably won't even bother listening to it because it has been ruined for me forever. Thanks a lot for that.

Okay I'm done. End rant. I missed the debate because of stupid work. This is probably the first time ever that I've actually wanted to WATCH a debate, and I missed it.

Alright, I'm out. Peace and Love.

short days and afternoons spent puttering around...

I GOT PAPER TOWNS I GOT PAPER TOWNS IGOTPAPERTOWNSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!

I got "Paper Towns" in the mail 17 days before it's supposed to come out.

Thank you, John Green.

I read it in probably 24 hours (after I told Caitlin that if it was a mistake, I wouldn't read it until October 16th).

It was the best book John has written yet (and maybe one of my top favorite books of all time).

I also read "Devilish" by Maureen Johnson before I read "Paper Towns", and now I'm reading "Girl at Sea" by her, too.

And after that, I'm going to read "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks, because I got that in the mail the day after it was released.

I'm also going to try and get to his book signing. Weeeeeee!

I love books.
