oh say can you see

My acapella group sang the National Anthem at the NY Islanders game on Thursday evening! You can check it out here:

And before we actually sang, we hung out around the arena and started coloring pictures at the designated "Kids Table," and some of us also had our picture taken with Sparky, the mascot (who has a broken hockey stick for a tail!).

Then yesterday it snowed. It snowed so much that my school gave us a snow day. Unfortunately, I don't have class on Friday, and my mom was on mid-February break, so it was a waste of a snow day. I didn't even have to go to work anyway! But dad and I cancelled our dentist appointments because we weren't going anywhere. Instead, we shoveled. A lot. We shoveled my sidewalk, part of my neighbors' sidewalks, my Oma's sidewalk, and the apartment houses sidewalk. I'm shoveled out! And then last night, for dinner, since it's Lent and we don't eat meat on Fridays, mom made Pfannekuchen. Yummmmmmmmmy!

you are always trying to keep it real, I'm in love with how you feel

Amanda, Kim, and I found out we have another person in our room on the London trip. Her name is Laura....and SHE KICKS ASS! She's so cool and very sweet, and we already get along so well (and I've only talked to her over facebook and aim). We're definitely going to have so much fun in London. I can't wait....as of midnight, it'll be 22 days until London!

Anyways....in school today, Amanda and I were hangin' around and we were jamming to Moldy Peaches tunes.....and we had Olivia record us. We're pretty amazing, I must say. We're starting a folk cover band called the Fuzzy Apples (hmmm.....folk cover band.... sounds like......... The Twinstrels? SORRY LIZ! I just never see you anymore so we never have time to sing pretty harmonies and jam on Hanson tunes).

Anyway, here's how we rock out Moldy Peaches style.

look for the girl with the broken smile, ask her if she wants to stay awhile

I hate Valentine's Day. I don't know why it exists. Why do couples have to celebrate their love on one designated day, when they basically have every other day to proclaim their love to each other. I had no one to celebrate it with. Instead, I spent the day at school, and out at Panera and TGI Friday's with some friends, and ended the night practicing the Star-Spangled Banner with my a cappella group because we're singing at the Islander game sometime this week. It's gonna rock!

But anyway. Some pictures from this week.

Roses my dad got my mom for Valentine's Day

The tin of goodies I got mom and dad for Valentine's Day

The yummy goodness inside the tin :)

The tulips my sister sent to my parents for Valentine's Day

The high school that my drum corps. practices at sometimes has all these props on the stage from their theatre department, and they have this huge Audrey II on the stage that creeps us out and makes us laugh at the same time. We had to take a picture of it before it disappeared...

chickety china, the chinese chicken

My friend Amanda and I are going to Panera tomorrow for lunch, and I told our friend Kim I'd pick up something for her so she can eat on our way to the mall. When I asked what she wanted, I didn't have any paper around to write it down, so I used the back of one of my dollar bills.

This gave me an idea for a little while, but I don't know. Maybe I don't have a point to this idea. Anyway...

I just need a little of your time

I'm that girl that will totally rock the bags $20 and less, because I'm not cheap, I'm just poor. And some cute bags really are $20 or less!

But I also am willing to shell out $48 for a Coach wristlet. Because I really want one. Because it's really pretty (even if it's just all black). And because it totally goes against mostly everything I've ever thought. Although, I've said I would never pay for a designer bag, but I would use it if someone got it for me. And if I ever DID get a designer bag, I'd go with Coach. But the wristlet is relatively cheap, it's adorable, and it's practical. It will have responsibilities! It will have duties to fulfill!

I'm totally getting it.
