when you look at the world, what is it that you see?

Lisa and I went to get our cards read yesterday. It was pretty interesting - basically everything she said was true, and other things she said were pretty intriguing. I'm going to share everything she said that I can remember:

- She said I was a very positive person
- She said I was very strong
- She said "we have gossipers" which is true, because Lisa and I talk about everything
- She mentioned Florida and that I'll have a great time (which boggled my mind incredibly, because Lisa and I are planning the trip to disney for next year. when she said that, Lisa said she knew she had me)
- She said I'm looking for love (duh.)
- She said I'm a people person, that I have a lot of girl friends, but I don't get along with all of them
- I have a lot of friends that I've forgotten about/they've forgotten about me, and I don't talk with them anymore
- She said I have a lot of positive energy, that I'm a very positive person
- I will find love, it's something I always think about and really want
- She said "girl, you're gonna have kids" and when I asked how many, she said 3-4
- She said I'll get married, it'll be 2 loves before I find "the one"
- I'm a people person, I get along with a lot of people, but I don't trust everyone
- I am very focused
- She said I'm a very creative person in many ways
- She said there's one person that worries about me the most, probably my mom
- She said I'm a very giving person, and that I do a lot for others
- She said that the love Lisa and I have for each other is so strong, and that we're so close that we have the same energies, and that's why we get along so well
- She said I had good energy
- She asked if I ever wanted to be a nurse when I was going to school, because she saw white. I said I was in music therapy for awhile, and I interned in a hospital setting, and she said that's what it was
- She said I'll have money, that's it's not an issue, but I have to learn how to manage it in the beginning, but I'll have it
- She said everything that'll happen in the next 6 months will be positive and I'll be happy with it - I may not think so at first, but it will be positive
- She said I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do job-wise, but when I do figure it out, it'll be good
- She said there would be a major change in my life - I don't know what it is yet, but I need it and it will be a good change
- She said I will travel a lot and I will meet a lot of people, but I won't trust all of them
- She said I have to open up more - and to open my heart to new experiences
- She also said I'm around water a lot

It was pretty cool. I was really nervous at first (probably because I wasn't sure if what she was going to say was a load of crap, or if she would say things I didn't want to hear and get really emotional over), but Lisa went to this place before and it was eye-opening for her. I've always wanted to get something like that done, so I finally did. This may be the first and last time ever, who knows what the future may hold.

13. Girls have a crush on AT LEAST one senior. (I admit it, too)
14. Guys have a crush on any girl that kisses them hello.
15. Even if you don't have H period, you come in early. (but I had H period almost every day. It was rare when I didn't, but I was there anyway)
16. You've fallen down the stairs at least once. (or up the stairs!)
17. You want to take World War 2 because Mr. Hessel teaches it.
18. You hear lots of stories about what went on during the summer, half of which aren't true.
19. You have faked sick to go to the nurse just for the tea and crackers.
20. You would trade Channel One for getting out of school fifteen minutes earlier.
21. You get to lab early, so you can get first dibbs on lab coats, and don't have to wear one with writing on it.
22. Your locker always gets wrapped on your birthday ... even when you're not expecting it.
23. You say Happy Birthday to strangers with wrapped lockers. (or if they were holding flowers)
24. You notice the school doesn't use the air conditioning or heating even though both are there to make life easier. (YES! it'd be cold in the winter & hot in the summer)
25. You can make a ton of money walking around the lunchroom saying "Can I borrow a dollar?"
26. During the hour period, your teacher makes fun of the kids screaming in the hallways.
27. Teachers always give you more work when the end of the quarter is two days away.
28. When you come outside, every guy from Holy Cross is waiting for the girls out front -- no matter what time of day.
29. The only thing the cafeteria serves is chicken.
30. You hang out in the beanbag chair during your free. (campus ministries!)
31. You run when you see the deans.
32. You think Mr. Sugrue is the weirdest and coolest teacher there.
33. You've gotten detention for being a minute late because your teacher was in a bad mood.
34. You thought that square dancing was the stupidest thing ever in freshman year, but later realized how much fun you actually had in that class.
35. You've started to walk to a class on the west side after the five minute bell, and managed to get there on time.
36. You have eaten at Blue Bay, Applebees or Cherry Valley.
37. You started or witnessed a fight at 7-11.
38. You've ran to catch the Q88 Special to avoid taking two buses.
39. You complain about the food in the cafeteria all the time, but somehow you eat it anyway.
40. Somehow you end up at every event Prep has.
41. You laugh at all of Father Bill's jokes, no matter how corny.
42. You don't mind assemblies during cor, as long as you miss some of second period.
43. Girls find themselves dancing the sophomore dance at Sweet Sixteens when "This is How We Do It" comes on.
44. You make fun of freshmen walking into the wrong classroom, and yet still do it sometimes when you aren't thinking clearly.

This weekend the Cabs were in Lawrence for MISSION DRUMS. We got 2nd...but after reading the recaps from this weekend, I discovered we won 1st place percussion, so that made me extremely happy!

daydreamer, with eyes that make you melt

I finally found some time in my crazy schedule called my summer of 2008 to take and upload pictures of my new guitar Miley. The hummingbird on the pick guard has been named Christopher, after the guy who helped me with my purchase at Guitar Center in the city. After Caitlin and I bought our new guitars (she bought a beautiful Royal Blue Fender Stratocaster; I, a Cherry Sunburst Epiphone Hummingbird), we went to WSP and jammed and started writing a song about the fat man in the parking laying out and catching some rays. I didn't have any paper, so we wrote it in the back of my book, Forever In Blue (the Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood) by Ann Brashares.

I'm writing a love song to/about a Metrocard.

My favorite part about my outing with Caitlin (other than the fact that it was a gorgeous day and we were just two people jammin' in the park) was that these young people came up to us and told us they were interns at Google, and they were on scavenger hunt. They had to take a picture with "street musicians," so one of the girls picked up two twigs and pretended to be our drummer. We posed with her, and then they had someone else take another picture and they all got in the shot with us. It was pretty cool - especially when we were telling them that we were writing a song about the fat man and writing the lyrics in the back of my book. They joked about taking a video of us and putting us on youtube, and we'd be the next big thing. They don't know what's coming yet.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately (I don't know where I find the time to read between drum corps and work, but I do manage to use those rides on the train to and from work to get some reading time in. And then there's also the days that I just sit at the desk and stare at the phone. Instead, I read the pages of a good book).


So far I've read:

we bought some ruby tuesday guacamole

I told my mom I was going on this Guitar Center adventure today, and I said I might buy a ukulele, and she got all defensive. She was like "no, don't do that. Why? Why would you buy a ukulele?" and I'm like "....to play?..."

She said it's not worth it, and she'd actually much rather me buy a SECOND guitar, rather than a totally new instrument that I want to learn.

Is there something wrong with that? Is there? Did I miss something?

Well, anyway. I'm off to the city. <3

Cait and I are going to guitar center tomorrow. I'm really excited. We're going to look at ukuleles (I'm going to get schooled in them) and then I'll decide if I buy a ukulele or that pretty guitar ^^up there^^. I went to this guitar center once before, and I saw the bright sunburst (which is shown up there) but then I saw a darker sunburst, and it was actually quite gorgeous (and hopefully the same price). But tomorrow we will be doing some investigating. And then yeah. Tomorrow I may be the new owner of a guitar and/or ukulele. More to come.
