just you and me

Will you be mine?

Cait and I are going to guitar center tomorrow. I'm really excited. We're going to look at ukuleles (I'm going to get schooled in them) and then I'll decide if I buy a ukulele or that pretty guitar ^^up there^^. I went to this guitar center once before, and I saw the bright sunburst (which is shown up there) but then I saw a darker sunburst, and it was actually quite gorgeous (and hopefully the same price). But tomorrow we will be doing some investigating. And then yeah. Tomorrow I may be the new owner of a guitar and/or ukulele. More to come.

One of my best friends is on the front page of Abby Simons' "songsfromahat" youtube channel.

How awesome is that?!

That is totally jokes. Congratulations, Cait! You're made of awesome!

whom shall I send?

on the other side of the world, she stands on the ocean shore
gazing at the heavens, she wonders, is there something more?

whom shall I send? who will go for me?
to the ends of the earth? who will rise up for the King?

here am I. send me.

when you wish upon a star...

I've already started planning a trip to Disney for next September. I'm really super excited about this...I can't wait to go. I want to go this September, but that's just not an option. I don't have the money to do it, and I have too much other stuff going on right now. I figure in a little more than a year, I'll have the money, and I'll have a whole year's worth of pent-up energy to go, that I will probably have a much better time.

But seriously, I'm gonna be the happiest girl on earth at the happiest place on earth! I'm so excited.

and when he does his shaky rockin' dance, man I haven't got a chance

I intended to wake up this morning around 6/6:30 and leave the house by 7/7:15 with my mom, and she would drop me off at the train. But mom works at a catholic school and had off today, however she woke me up to make sure I would still get to school and do my work.

I chose to sleep a little bit longer.

Which resulted in me not leaving the house until about 10:15/10:30. I got to school around 12, and that turned out to be a plus because I picked up extra grad. tickets, practiced Shenandoah with cathleen a bit, and discussed recital details with keith. I got virtually none of my work done, though, but I'm doing that now (or not doing that because I'm writing here).

Then I had my percussion lesson to go over recital pieces. I still need to run a couple things with people, but as for my other pieces, I'm good. I feel really good about them. I hope the recital rocks.

We had choir rehearsal. I love when diane gives out compliments here and there, because it's kind of rare when that happens. she basically kind of praised mt in a weird way even though she was pissed about missing people, and she explained the importance of the group and why we should actually show up to things - because we are privileged and stuff. I agree with her. I would've done a better singing job on Lollipop if not for the fact that my voice was basically gone. I was singing the trio part and I kept thinking, "wow my voice doesn't sound anything like it should. huh."

Then....my night got a bit on the worse side. I was on the phone with a friend of mine who told me she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Insert concern/worries/on the verge of tears feelings. :( I really hope things go well when she goes to talk with the surgeon tomorrow, but I'm so worried for her. Please keep her in your prayers.

I'm extremely tired, even though I drank a cup of moderately strong coffee. I need to be awake for a couple of more hours so I can work on the bulk of this paper. It's due any time tomorrow, as long as it's tomorrow, but I just don't seem to want to write it. It has to be 20 pages (at least) and I'm on page.....12? That's with a different font (Calibri?) and I hope she doesn't realize it. I mean....if she says anything about it, I'll just have to tell her that my computer sets it to that, and that because I've been typing with that font for so long now, I didn't even realize it (which is partly the truth, and it doesn't say ANYWHERE on the handouot that we HAVE to use TNR).

I just can't wait for tomorrow to be over with. Actually, I'd love to skip the whole morning and afternoon, and head right to the evening, so I can sing and play my little heart out at rehearsal. I wish this paper was done. I should've started writing it months ago.

But I'm a procrastinator. It's what I do best.

there's a song that's inside of my soul

I wrote this on February 7, 2006 in sophomore year of college for a religion class. It's amazing how I still feel this way about God, a little more than two years later.

In my experiences, God has always been (and still is) a constant in my life. He is a spiritual being that dwells in my heart as well as appears in everything around me. He is always there, making sure I am following the path he has chosen for my life. I see and feel God in many ways – in my parents, in the friends I see every day, and in daily activities. God is everything to me. He is the air I breathe and the scents I smell; he is the music I play and the music I listen to. He is the life-long friends I’ve made and the strangers I will meet. God is all around me: in people, in objects, in thoughts and ideas. To me, God does not have a face or a body, because he comes in all different forms. There is the popular belief that God is Jesus and vice versa. While on some degree I believe that, I also disagree with that belief. God appears in different forms, different ways, and in different people that I meet every day.

I feel God daily in my life a lot, but I especially feel him when I think about my grandparents (Oma and Opa), and when I think about music. Some people might be angry with God when a loved one dies, and I admit, I have felt that way before. But I also thank God that they are not suffering anymore, and I feel that it was His decision that they belonged in a better place. I feel God when I am with Oma, my grandmother. She is such an amazing and strong woman, and she took care of Opa for the last couple of years of his life, when he was sick. They were both people of faith, and Opa tried to go to go to mass for as long as he was able to, even when his accessibility was in a wheel chair. They both have strong beliefs and values of the Catholic faith, and have always set great examples for their children and grandchildren. After my Opa passed away, Oma became an even stronger person because of her faith in God, and it has reflected upon me, as well as other members in my family. Every time that I spend time with her, I feel God’s presence with us, in her life and in mine.

Every time I am performing music, I feel God’s presence in my life as well. I believe that God gave me the gift of music, and I try to use it to the best of my abilities, because I know that is what he would want for me. Performing is an incredible feeling, and I feel that God is usually right there beside me when I’m playing an instrument for an audience. I believe that it is God who is able to give me that feeling of accomplishment; that my belief in him helps to trigger the sense of feeling that I have reached out to someone in the audience that I perform for.

I believe that I am here in this world for a reason. I am not quite sure yet what that reason is, but I am on a continuous search to find out. I think that every day, I learn another small bit of information on why I am actually here, and why God has created me. God has a plan for me, and I hope that I am able to carry out that life according to his plan in the grand scheme of life.
